Before I start blogging on Scampston Hall's Big Vintage Weekend yesterday I thought I'd do an Old Hollywood Star Blog Post about Bettie May Page.
Pinup model Bettie has inspired clothing lines, influenced celebrities from Dita von Teese and Katy Perry.
Known as the 'Queen of Pinups' Bettie black bangs and risque photo's came to represent a popular look of the 1950's.
Bettie retired from modelling in the late 50's and went on to become evangelical Christian. She studied at Bible colleges in Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon with the intent of becoming a missionary. The latter part of Page's life was marked by depression, violent mood swings, and serveral years in a state psychiatric hospital suffering from paranoid schizophrenia.
Bettie May Page died from a heartache on December 11th in 2008.
This blog post is more of a tribute to her extraordinary modelling career. So many generations are inspired to look like her. The jet black hair and her 'Bettie Bangs'.
