The Embroided Smock Blouse

I have always loved clothes and how my style has developed over the years as I have got older. I love quirky prints, classic coats and something that stands out. I love having lots of colour in my wardrobe, for me that brings me so much joy than having a wardrobe full of dark colours. I like to express my personality in the way I dress and I will always go for something that is bright rather than something thats black or grey.

Last weekend  came across this lovely bright colour smock blouse which caught my eye and it was something I had to try on. The colour is so bright and when I think of Spring it reminds me of this blouse. The detailing is beautiful and the cute bow at the top just finishes it off. I saw a smock blouse from Topshop a while ago and it was very similar to this but it was blue and white but I never bought it. Infact the colour reminds me of a mustard yellow and it is a bohemian style blouse and very obsessed with the embroidery. It is just the perfect smock blouse for spring!

However despite how expensive the blouse was, I was a very happy girl. I wore it on Saturday night when I went to the cinema to see the new Avengers film and can I just say Infinity War was the best Avengers film ever! I don't think anyone could believe the ending, we were all just shell shocked for ages. On Topshop website the blouse is paired up with white jeans but I suppose you could it wear it with any type of jeans. I wore mine with black jeans and a leather jacket but it would also look nice with mom jeans too.

The Swinging Sixties with Bridgett Bardott

Today I wanted to talk to you about one of my favourite ladies; Bridgett Bardott. I wanted to do this in bullet point facts. I hope you enjoy!
  •  She retired as an actress when she was 39 and became a full time animal rights activist.
  •  She never wanted to be seen as a sex symbol, revealing in an interview: “All my life…I was never what I wanted to be, which was frank, honest, and straightforward. I wasn’t scandalous — I didn’t want to be. I wanted to be myself. Only myself.”
  •  An ardent animal activist she once contacted Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin to thank him for his work on behalf of wolves and for banning the sealskin trade.
  • Despite being idolised by the world over, Bardot claims she has never found enduring happiness and is reported to have made several suicide attempts.
  •  She popularised the bikini in her early films such as Manina. The ‘Bardot’ fashion neckline is also coined after her.

Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot, a name that almost immediately pops into your mind when the term '1960's fashion icon' is mentioned. Brigitte defined the fashion of that era with her trademark. The smoky eyes paired with tousled blonde hair and her killer curves that made her being labelled as the 'ultimate sex kitten'. In fact, her roughed-up bed-head look is an inspiration to the new generation with celebrities like Kate Moss and Blake Lively emulating her sexy attitude and iconic beauty.

“I gave my beauty and my youth to men. I am going to give my wisdom and experience to animals.”
“A photograph can be an instant of life captured for eternity that will never cease looking back at you.”
“Only idiots refuse to change their minds.”
“It is sad to grow old and not ripen.”
“People are forever finding something wrong with you.”
Today's blog post is all about Bridgett Bardot's style from the 60's. I have enjoyed researching into this iconic fashion iconic and even though I did not write a lot of facts about her as I wanted to show her style of clothing, hair and beauty.

Reflecting on April

April where have you been hiding? I honestly feel like we have missed a season and jumped straight into Summer as at the moment everyone is having a heatwave in the UK. So many people are wearing flip flops, getting out their sunnies and going round in Summer clothes. We have totally forgotten that we are still in April! Although saying that I think we are having the last weekend of warm sunshine before we go back to rainy days. As I am writing this I have Sinatra on the record player and listening to Come fly with me, definitely wishing I was back at Grayshon Drive with my favourite people who are looking down on me as I play Frank. He brought so much joy to me when my grandparents were alive and I will forever be grateful for those memories of playing Grandad's vinyls and then sending video's to my Grandma so she could play them. Happy days, I miss being able to do this.

This month has been an interesting one if I do say so myself. It started off with the Easter weekend which despite how awful the weather was it was so lovely to have a four day weekend. Something that was looking forward as I haven't had a proper holiday since I started working at the doctors surgery since October when I went to Cyrprus. So I was loving not having to go in Friday and Monday.. you have to love those bank holiday weekends right? Speaking of holidays it's nearly a year since Jess and I went to Berlin for her 21st, cannot believe how quick that went! Only feels like yesterday when we going and had such a fab time. I would love to go back but definitely stay in a nicer area thats for sure! May 19th takes me to a special place; somewhere I have always wanted to go and I honestly have never been more excited.. pretty gutted that I won't be able to do a lot of Beatle related things but its okay I can go again and do that all over again. Have you guessed? It's Liverpool - the home of my favourite band, The Beatles! 3 days enjoying the city with two of my closest friends it will defintely be a trip to remember! I will be taking lots of photos, lots of Instagram stories and boomerangs. Now I have to get my summer wardrobe ready and decide what I am going to wear. I also need to get my summer body ready too.. which means lots and lots of times at the gym. I love the gym and I am so happy I decided to finally joined! I love going after work and the weekends, definitely my time to relax and actually enjoy doing exercise.

Old Hollywood I Current Favourites

I'm offically taking you back to Old Hollywood.. when you think of Old Hollywood what do you think of? I personally think of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, black and white films and so much more. I love the style, the music, the old classic films such as The God Father and Some Like It Hot! Here are just a few of my all time icon's.. lets start with the man himself  Frank Sinatra.. okay so if you have been following my blog for some time you will most likely know is that I am obessed with Frank. I adore his music, he has such an amazing voice and such a talented man. His voice reminds me so much of my Grandad and he absolutely loved him. I have lots of Frank vinyl's and I am constantly playing his records. What a star! My queen, my inpsiration, my favourite icon Marilyn. What more can I say about.. I have written so many posts about Norma. All she wanted was to be an actress! She was unique to the world and taken for granted. Sophia Loren and Elvis Presley.. these two are the cutest and these pictires have reminded me so much of why I love them. Elvis Presley is very talented like Frank and I love his music. Sophia Loren such a beautiful actress!

The last photo sums up my love of Old Hollywood, the reason why I love the era so much. The style, the old cars, the sass! I love it and actually since I created Lottie's Lott I have learn't so much about Old Hollywood and all of the stars. I never knew Sophia Loren exsisted until my grandparents told me of a story that my Grandad loved Sophia. She was his favourite, he always liked busty women.

My 50th Blog Post I Blogging is fun

Lately I have been looking at my blog stats and thinking ' a lot of you guys have been checking out my posts today' which is a good and exciting feeling. I like being able to share my love of Vintage with you all and the last couple of weeks I have been blogging quite a bit and it has been great! Finally been able to enjoy being able to blog and be able to fit it in with work and when I am off I focus my time and effort on blogging. It is my happy place, the place that I have created to share an interest with you.The other week I uploaded a George Harrison and Current Favourite post and thought '22 people have read it' and to me that is a lot! Yes its true, I would never expect thousands of people to view what I post, I do not even think about that, I just like sharing a part of what I love with you and to be honest It makes me happy.

Velvet Teddy lipstick and a leopard print blouse from Topshop.

Why do I post long introductions? I do not know. I just seem to waffle on half the time.
This post will be my 50th and I cannot believe it. Here are my 5 reasons why:

  • How have I managed to write about 49 different things?
  • How have been able to keep people interested for this long?
  • In February this year I would not have thought this would happen!
  • I blogged too much on Marilyn Monroe,
  • My blogs when I started barely had any context in them.

I have loved learning so much about Vintage, Fashion and Old Hollywood Stars. I also began to learn more about 60's icons recently and my love of The Beatles returned. I also became a George Harrison lover. I never was until over a month ago, It was always Paul and John. They were my favourites,

Posts I am hoping to do soon

  • Elizabeth Taylor, I do not know why I have not blogged about her yet!
  • Vintage wish list - I have seen a lot of wish lists lately and came across some new things that I would love to get and thought this is definitely something I want to share with you.
  • The Beatles - I have too, Its part of my love of music and I have been a fan for 7 years!
Thank you for reading and I will be back soon with another post! Also do not forget to keep up to date with my blog posts on bloglovin' it is the easiest way! You can find the link on previous posts and on my twitter!

March Favourites

I start this favourites post with a picture of myself because its supposed to Spring and last weekend the sun was shining and I was able to dig out one of my favouite blouses. I bought this one from Zara last year and it was a blouse I had been wanting for a while but never had to chance to get it. Then I just happened to see and I was a very happy. Also I wanted to address the fact about how sometimes you don't need filter on your photos. This photo I took came out really well and just decided to put it on the blog without anything on and I love it. Show's off the light coming through.

I found this photo on Tumblr and I fell in love with it. As you know I love retro cars and was speechless when I saw this car. It brings me joy, happiness and reminds me of Mad Men.

Can we talk about Fenty Beauty? Well I have been dying to get my hands on Rihanna's makeup brand after my sister had bought the mini set of lipgloss and highlight. The other weekend when we went to Leeds we walked past the Fenty Beauty stand in Harvey Nichols and I found myself the same set and I had to get it! The highlight is amazing and I love the lipgloss, perfect for every skin colour.

Last but least as I am currently writing this I have just got back from the gym. I had such a good workout and had a coffee and Greek Yoghurt with lots of fruit and honey. It was a good start to the morning.

Hope you are all enjoying the Easter Weekend!! Shame the weather hasn't been great but hey ho.
