January Favourites 2019

I am a sucker for all things pretty, I love pretty things and there is nothing I love better than to wear pretty things. Whether that is a flowery vintage shirt with 70s style collar or the prettiest pair of little earrings I have ever worn, it makes me me and there is something so great about that. I was born 27 years tomorrow and as I write this my birthday falls on Thursday, 24th January of course and as I here the number 27 it really does scare me. To think I have been alive for 27 years, that is maddness and I sound so old. I question my life and where it has led me, I question everything. I question why I haven't found a man in my life yet, I question why I haven't got a lot of friends and I question why the only guy that made my heart skipped a little beat was looking through a fancy shoe shop window with Bex in Covert Garden. Like my grandma used to say, nothing ever stays the same and my gosh wasn't she right about that?

So as today is my last day of being 26 I wanted to do a little blog post of some of my favourite 'pretty things'. So I start off with a photo of my idol who I have adored for some time now and have featured her in my blog lots and lots of times. My queen and inspiration in life, Marilyn Monroe. I love this woman and she gives me so much joy and happiness. This photo, I came across on a facebook page of Marilyn today, taken in 1953 I believe. I haven't seen this photo in truly a really long time and just wanted to share this on Lottie's Lott today.

I fell in love with & Other Stories a tiny bit more when I came across their Covert Garden store in London at the weekend. The store was huge and had some amazing things including all of this make up which I barely have seen in the Leeds store so hence why I had to take a photo but their make up just looked so classy and pretty I really just could not resist. Also I would love to know if anyone has tried their makeup?

I had to mention these little Cloud Paints, I won't say a lot on them as I have just done a Glossier blog review about their products but these cloud paints are perfect for when you just want to add a little bit of colour to your face and perhaps just having 'one of those days'. I love these little blush's and they are such a cool idea.

If you have followed me on here or my instagram for a while now you will know that I absolutely adore these two; Pattie Boyd and George Harrison. Firstly, George is my favourite beatle and well Pattie is just an inspiration and such a 60s icon. Both of these photos were taken on their honeymoon which are too die for. I will alway love these two, the cutest couple ever.

And last but not least my absolute favourite person. Ahhh, this little lady and I met way back last year in April. Within seconds of meeting her, we just clicked and has become the loveliest friend in the world. She is beautiful inside and out and has a heart of gold. Thank you for the most wonderful time in London with you and Kieran.

Puttin' On The Ritz I Little Gettaway To London

I just wanted a little photo diary of me trip to London to see my friend Bex. Can I just say a credit to her and Kieran as they both made me feel right at home and had the most wonderful time.

Here was us on Saturday not long after I arrived in London. We came across this 1920's American Restaurant in Soho called Jackson and Rye. If you have seen the film The Untouchables then you will totally understand what I am talking about. They played really cool music and honestly felt you were in that era. Also both breakfasts were very yummy.

We did lots of sight seeing and Bex was my little tour guide for the day and she did a great job. We went everywhere, Soho, China Town, Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square, Green Park, St James' Park, Buckingham Palace, Leicester Square and Covert Garden.

On Sunday we had a walk into Ealing which was so lovely and it didn't feel like you were in London. It was amazing, the sun was shining, it was chilly but very pleasant. We ended up having pancakes in Bills and it was very very yummy. One of the nicest Bills I've ever been too and the pancakes were just perfection baby.

I think I left a piece of my heart in London..

Is Glossier Worth The Hype? I A Little Guide To Glossier

Well here is a review that I have been waiting to do, I must admit I was late to the party but thats okay because now I can catch up on what I have missed out on. I just want to say I haven't bought the whole collection just a few little make up pieces that caught my eye but let me tell you I will be trying the skincare out. I pinky promise. So as the title says, is Glossier worth the hype? And here is my little guide to the most talked about make up brand. I must say I do prefer trying beauty products out before buying but I wasn't able to do that so I just went for it and hoped there would be something I loved. I just knew, it was time to see what the fuss was all about and perhaps I just could not take my eyes off the packaging?

So lets move onto the products... I am honestly so impressed with them. I mean I could just keep talking and talking about them but REALLY they are great.

Birthday Balm Dot

I was very intrigued about this balm dot when I was scrolling through the website and it was something that I had to try as I thought to myself how can a makeup brand make a lip balm that smells of birthday cake?

I was very wrong, the balmdot is birthday cake, it is like icing. It is devine if you love and I mean LOVE sweet smelling scents. What I love about it is the shine on your lips that it leaves and makes your lips feel very moisturised.

I really do recommend this product and really want to try out the other balm dots.

Cloud Paint

Cloud Paint is one of the most well known Glossier products that everyone cannot stop talking about. I was very excited to try it out. I have two of them; Puff and Beam. I really love both of them, I love how all you do is just use your fingers to apply. It really is simple as that and I love the formula, it leaves your skin feeling very dewy and adding a little bit of extra colour.

It really is a great product and 100% recommend it.

Boy Brow

Boy Brow - well what I can say about this! It honestly is amazing and makes your brows look amazing. It's every girls dream and if you like natural brows or just want to add another texture to them then you must get Boy Brow in your life.

Generation G

These new generation lipsticks are quite something. I have the shade 'Like' which is a cool pink. I really love this colour it is great to wear if you are going for a casual look and don't want to go big or bold with your lip colour. I also love how the lipsticks are made to adapt to you.

Perfecting Skin Tint

I have found this product very interesting, I love the concept to this skin tint and quite frankly well done Glossier for creating a product like this. It is the type of skin tint which is best to use when you having a chilled day/weekend and you don't want to wear lots of make up but you just want a little something on your face. Make sure you shake it first before you start using it!

Stretch Concealer

I really love this Stretch Concealer, it is very dewy and I love the fomula to it. This concealer works well with the Perfection Skin Tint but also on its own. It is very easy to apply all you do is gently swirl your fingertip over the concealer and pat in onto your face.

Haloscope

This highlighter caught my eye because actually this product is great. I love having a dewy highlight and I find its best to rub the product into your hands and then you can apply the highlight onto your face, It is great for traveling too.

Lash Stick

This mascara is great for making your lashes looking longer but still keeping it natural. I love mascara brush's like this one because they aren't glupy.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Please let me know in the comments below if you have tried any of these Glossier products and which ones do you prefer?

A French Girl On Film

Happy Saturday! Hope you are having the most wonderful weekend. I've had such a productive day, I went to the gym at a ridicious time but it's okay because I worked hard and felt so much better after it. YAY to exercise and all that jazz. I then popped into town and came home with some little treats (which I'll be posting on Instagram very soon so keep ya' eyes peeled lovelies. Then I discoved this french girl above, Charlotte Martin. (Catherine Martin)

So here are just a few things that I found out interesting about Charlotte...

  1. Born in Paris, France. A place I would love to go!
  2. Structured childhood so no room for freedom, space, or excitement.
  3. She started modelling in Paris, Milan and London.
  4. She changed her name from Catherine to Charlotte and created a new identity..
  5. Starting living in the cream of the 1960s.
  6. Dated Eric Clapton and had a brief affair with George Harrison.
I saw a photo of her on Instagram and she reminded me so much of Pattie Boyd. I absolutely adore the 1960s/1970s so much and one day I will purchase a pair of flares and will feel like these ladies.

I would also love to start doing these kind of blog posts again, I spent my weekends and evenings after work, scrolling through photo's of Pattie and just 1960s/1970s in general and just fall in love with them.
