A Chatty Update On What Has Been Going On.

At last my love has come along
My lonely days are over and life is like a song, oh yeah
At last the skies above are blue
My heart was wrapped up clover the night I looked at you
I found a dream that I could speak to
A dream that I can call my own
I found a thrill to press my cheek to
A thrill I've never known, oh yeah
You smiled, you smiled oh and then the spell was cast
And here we are in Heaven
For you are mine at last

It is official everybody this blog series is back and back with a BANG of course! I have missed doing these chatty update kind of post but I was really in the mood just to type and feel like I'm having a good chat with you all.  I just want to say that over this weekend (the heatwave) that came on Saturday I started listening again to Etta James (the picture above, if you didn't know) and I have fallen in love with her again. Gosh her voice is beautiful, truly beautiful and I cannot understand why I would stop listening to her, oh well here is to a reflecting post filled with lots of things that has been going on.

I must say, I don't know where to start, how I can honestly begin to write when I have so much I want to say. So many photo's that aren't on Instagram, just because sometimes I don't like to post lots of different random pictures but everyone is different. Well June you have gone too fast and I don't know how that has happened but thank you for ending with gorgeous sunshine and actually making this month feel like Summer! One of my highlights of this month was watching The Hired Man. My mum got tickets just a week before we were going to watch it, we went to Hull Truck Theatre and it was amazing. Of course I won't spoil it for people but you have to go and see it.

Something else has happened actually this weekend is that I had my nails done and this creation of Alice's (my nail queen) is one of my favourites and a colour we have never done before. It most definitely is called 'The Alice Special'.

I also have been buying far too much makeup but that is only because I like trying new products and at the moment I am going through a phase of just having glowy skin, you know the no makeup kind of look. Also when I say far too much makeup all I mean is a few new lipsticks, and perhaps buying the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and honestly feeling like an Old Hollywood Star to be quite honest.  Here is a photo of me wearing it and I truly love it!

I have also started holiday shopping too as it is not that long before I go away and now its all about clothes as I have all the makeup I need and now it is time to concentrate on the important parts.

I hope you are all doing well and thank you as always for reading my blog.

A Few Of My Favourite Things

I love music, I always have but there is something about a record player and vinyls that just make me the happiest person in the world. I cannot imagine my life without either of them, I brought my record player a week before my 23rd birthday and that is why my vinyl collection began. In today's post I chose three of my favourite and newest addictions.

Let's start at the very beginning with one of my all time favourite vinyls..
The Beatles - Yellow Submarine

If you have been following my biog or my Instagram that you would know I am a huge Beatles fan since I was 7 years old and this album has some of my favourite songs. I love the song 'Hey Bulldog'. The lyrics are so clever and the music is just great. The album was released in the UK on the 17th January, 1969 (just a few days earlier in the US). Yellow Submarine vinyl was never intended as a high profile Beatles release.

I found a quote from Paul when writing this LP regarding John's songwriting and I love it.

One of things that I like about John's song writing style is its quirkiness, and I think Hey Bulldog is very surreal. And Obviously, I like the moment when we're in there and I'm harmonising with him and I start being a dog, you know, and then he sort of says, 'You got any more?.' and like - Wooooow!'

The Best of REM

I have never mentioned about REM before but I bought these vinyl a couple of weeks ago and actually it is a blue vinyl (amazing) which is an HMV exclusive. When I was younger we always used to listen to the greatest hits of REM in the back of the car whilst in the Dales and it brings me great memories of us singing in the car. May I also add the songs are great. It is an album I had to have in my collection.

Last but not least is the iconic LP - Dirty Dancing. Now can someone tell me why I didn't get this album sooner, my friends bought this for my birthday but it isn't just filled with the songs from the movie but it also has some others song too. For example it is Love Man which is one of my favourite songs and I could listen to this one all the time.

A Few Facts That You Didn't Know About Lana Del Rey

(All photo's above were sourced from Tumblr and Pinterest)

In today's post, I wanted to head back to 2015 and do a a few facts on one of my favourite icons and here is Lana. I also thought it would be really interesting to find out a little bit about Lana after I had been loving her music for a number of years now!

Lana's real name is Lizzy Grant, she moved to New York at the age of 18.

Whilst studying at Fordham University that is when she became interested in music.

Lana was born in Lake Placid, in upstate New York. She moved back to NYC aged 18 after three years at a boarding school in Connecticut.

Lana was sent to Connecticut  to deal with her alcohol addiction. Before she became Lana Del Ray,
Elizabeth Grant made an album called 'Sirens' under the name May Jailer.

When Lizzy Grant made the name change for the first time she named herself Lana Del Ray with an 'a' like Man Ray. 'Ray' became 'Rey' fairly quickly following the release of her first album.

'Born To Die' technically Lana's second studio album topped the charts in 11 countries. I must add it is my favourite album!

A New Lease Of Life

I don't know what it is, but the past few days I have felt incredibly lost for words. I feel like I have lost all my inspiration, my creative energy to write, my true passion of my love for vintage, fashion and Old Hollywood Stars. I keep thinking to myself  'Lottie, what is going on?' You need to snap out of it and get back into the game'. I guess that is easier said that done but you just have to keep going despite the fact that it can be very hard to stop comparing yourselves to other bloggers. I love reading blogs, I always have. I always will, but sometimes, just sometimes you can question yourself and that little voice instead your head returns to haunt you all day long. The best way I find to be inspired again and to only focus on yourself is to look back at old blog posts, remember the reason why you created your blog and even perhaps scroll through Tumblr/Pinterest for a whole lot of inspiration.

What I have been doing recently is just looking through pictures of Marilyn, Audrey and Lauren. If you have been following me all this time you would know that these three Old Hollywood Stars and my idols, I adore them, I always have and I always will. Even after writing this, I feel 10 times better in myself and my mind is just flowing with ideas that I must write down.. now!

I took these blog photos last weekend, that is right I wanted to experiment in taking outfit photos so I grabbed my phone and  hey presto I was in luck. This is also one of my favourite kind of outfits at the moment too. Sometimes all you need is A New Lease Of Life and then you become yourself again.
