Hello all, I really hope you have all been well, it has been a while since I last did a blog post, back in March actually but it was good to take a long break. I needed to take some time away from this little part of the internet which I love so much, but the last few months haven't been the best and I haven't had a lot to post. I got a new job in the middle of March but I was awaiting a start date and that took ages due to working in a hospital and had go through all the ID procedures but I was lucky enough to get a call from my manager just after Easter and I started last Monday, 19th April. It has been a good week but I am unable to use the system that the hospital use which is so frustrating considering I had do two hours of IT training on Thursday and then found out I couldn't access anything I needed. It all takes time for the service desk to do it and hopefully (fingers crossed) I will access this week! I'm a clerical officer, working with the Colorectal Cancer nurses and it is so interesting, I really cannot wait till I can actually do things rather than just watching. I have decent hours 8-4 and it is only 30 hours which is okay, it isn't ideal I would have preferred full time but unfortunately that was not possible and my last job at the surgery I did 37 but it is nice way to get into the York Hospital and it is nice to have Wednesdays off.
Here is a photo of my outfit that I wore on my first day, a week ago tomorrow.
Last Sunday I went shopping with mum to get some clothes for work, the great thing about the job is I can wear whatever I want, as long as it's smart and casual they really don't mind. I popped into Next and came out with some lovely bits, one being this gorgeous dress which is perfect for all types of weather and this jumper. I love the sleeves on it and it is just nice to wear what I like rather than having to wear a 'work uniform' and being stuck wearing certain colours. If you have been following me for some time either on here or on my instagram @lottieslott then you will know that I love colourful clothes, I love colour. Colour makes me happy and gives me that boost and it makes a world of a difference if you can wear whatever you like to work.
I am so looking forward to being able to make my new workspace my own, I have bought my own stationary, a mug and a coaster and when I get going a place that I enjoy working in. I do not have drawers which is slightly annoying.. but I'm going to get a desk tidy so I can store things in it. I enjoyed my time at the surgery however I was ready to move on, I wanted to learn new skills, develop myself and I was not able to do that. I have wanted to work in the hospital for a while now and now I'm in it feels amazing, there is courses I can do and they are so supportive in career progression, that is something they push and some of the admin girls that I have met have worked in different departments.
Something that has been exciting is that the shops have opened and you can eat and drink outside which is really nice and it feels great to be able to go outside and do things that normally you would take for granted. I have been into a few shops but I wouldn't go shopping in town on a Saturday afternoon right now as it would be crazy and you would spend half your time queuing which is not enjoyable at all. At the end of the day, we still have to be careful but is great to be able to do things again. I have been loving getting back to the gym and it made me realise how unfit I am with it being shut for so long but it is good to see people enjoying it and making the most of it. People's wellbeing is so important and I certainly feel a change in myself just being back and able to use the gym and swim again.
2021 is looking up, I may not be going abroad this year but I can wait, as much as I would love to be jet off on a plane in the summer I won't. I'm hoping that I can go in 2022 and things are better but for now I hope in the UK we do get some lovely weather this summer like last year because it makes such a difference!
Sending you all lots of love,
